There are three very good clubs that we recommend for your junior club volleyball needs in South Carolina. These are the three top performing clubs in each of South Carolina's major metro markets: Central (Columbia area), Low Country (Charleston area), and Upstate (Greenville/Spartanburg area).
They are Club South in Spartanburg, Magnum Volleyball Club in Columbia, and MVP in the Charleston area..
These 3 clubs pass all of the major criteria that we look for when recommending junior clubs. These criteria are size (must have a team in each age group), quality of coaches, and preformance of teams. These clubs are well organized and are known for providing a great club experience to their members. They have teams in every age division and the top teams of these three clubs consistenly finished in the top of their age groups each year in the Palmetto Region.
Magnum and Club South are the most established clubs in the state. Club South is the largest club in the state with over 40 club teams and many younger (U12) and developmental teams. For many years Club South used to dominate each age group but recently Magnum has started to gain ground and over the last 3 years Magnum has sent more teams to the USAV Nationals than any other club in the state. MVP is only 2 years old but has quickly established itself as a dominant force in the Charleston area by only have 1 team per age group and focusing on those teams doing well.
There are many other clubs in the state but most of these do not meet our criteria for recommendation. These are either smaller clubs (clubs with one or two teams) or clubs that do not have teams finishing at the top of their age group. Being smaller does not necessarily mean that these clubs are not good. They just do not meet our criteria.
